Farewell to Deep Star Books: Final Sale Notice

Hello everyone!

First off, let me state clearly. The news about our bookstore DOES NOT affect RHB Defenders in any way. Defenders is doing fine, thanks to the support of all you great folks out there.

Deep Star Books has gotten awfully quiet. Sometimes we get only a few sales all week. You guys have spoken to us clearly, and support is now behind RHB Defenders, which is wonderful cause we need that. But it also means DSB is falling behind. So our bookstore and our back catalogue is sadly, and very soon, going to be shut down.

You see, the system that allows our bookstore to accept credit card payments has a minimum amount of business required. A minimum we've missed twice now. Once more and we're sunk, they'll cancel our account and the bookstore will be functionally dead (Defenders operates on a different system, so is unaffected).

So we're sending the old girl out in style with a SUPER DUPER FAREWELL SALE! She's served us well and we want to thank her for carrying us from a crazy hobby to a modestly successful artist team. No small feat!

We're slashing prices to crazy levels. HALF PRICE or LESS on pretty much the entire catalogue. All the $20-25 books are now just $9.95, and those that were already $10 or less, are now $4.95. This is the farewell love fest for our tried and true bookstore, so show her your love!

We're offering this final blowout sale so everyone can fill in any gaps in their collection they wanted before the store goes dark, and the back catalogue becomes functionally unavailable. We're not sure what we'll be able to do with them after that, we're looking at options.

But the gist of it is this, if there's anything from the first 3 years of our work that you wanted but didn't get, now's the time.

Finally, again, thank you for everyone who has supported our work! RHB DEFENDERS IS NOT AFFECTED BY THIS. You guys have stepped up to the plate for Defenders, and we REALLY hope you'll continue to do so, because pretty soon it'll be the only way to support our projects. O_o

Notice Update: January 3rd, 2010

Hi everyone!

Thanks to some truly unbelievable generosity (a single passionate fan DONATED, not bought, donated $1000, to help keep the store alive, thank you! You know who you are!), our store has not yet been cancelled.

As such we have, thanks to all of you, made our minimum for December and earned a short reprieve from shutdown. This is a temporary thing, and the merchant account killing us is still all but inevitable, however we'll be able to limp along a bit into 2010 thankfully. The rules seem to be three strikes in a ROW and you're out, not three strikes total. So we should be able to muddle along till March. I've trimmed the banner on the main page to something shorter and less in the way.

If you see the big banner again it means we're in redline danger again. I'll update this notice accordingly when we're under threat again (not really an if, just a when).

All prices will remain radically cut. So everyone can still hopefully fill in their collections at bargain basement prices.

This is also a great bonus for it'll help our Requests & Commissions system that is starting up on RHB Defenders within 2 weeks. That may also help keep us alive. As always it's a narrow thing. We're lucky to break even on the whole affair, but with your support we can continue making awesome Ranma Hentai for some time yet!
