Defenders Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: What is the purpose of the Defenders website?
-
A: The Ranma series is now getting very long in the tooth, which sadly means hentai content for it is becoming extremely rare. The Defenders website is a subscription service created by Ranma Hentai Books to ensure that new Ranma hentai will continue to be made for many years to come.
- Q: Why do you ask people to pay for a subscription to Defenders?
-
A: We create and release new Ranma hentai art six days each week (Monday through Saturday). That's a lot of updates and requires our artists to work full-time drawing the hentai you want to see. Since everybody needs to have their basic needs met (food, clothes, shelter, etc.) we ask that members of Defenders contribute a small fee to help pay these wonderful artists for their time. It's your financial support that makes new Ranma hentai art possible.
-
Subscriptions enable us to fix our costs to weather the ups and down of the economy and keep top notch Ranma hentai coming out for as long as you guys stick with us. This allows us to be FAR more flexible and responsive to your desires. Longer stories, commissions, requests, multiple storylines active at once, and experimental hentai we couldn't invest a whole book in previously. It's the ultimate backstage pass into the inner circle of our work, getting the latest and greatest as soon as it exists to be had! ^_^
- Q: What makes Defenders different from other paysites?
-
A: The most important difference is this: we are a non-profit organization. We use every single dime of your money to create new Ranma hentai content. This is extremely important because it means that the amount of art we release is directly related to the membership of Defenders. The more members we have, the more art we make and release for you!
-
Here's a prime example: when Defenders first started, we only had five updates per week. But as our membership grew, we used that extra money to expand to six updates per week!
-
The bottom line is that if we have extra resources because membership has increased, we are going to use them to increase the quality of art and the number of updates. This is our promise to Ranma Hentai fans!
- Q: If Defenders doesn't make any profit, why do this at all?
-
A: Because we are Ranma hentai fans just like you! We are not in this for the money (for which honestly there is little to speak of). In fact, ONLY the artists that draw your hentai get a salary. Other RHB members such as Deep Star and LurkerFromBelow, for example, are unpaid volunteers. They devote dozens of hours each week because they love Ranma hentai and want to see more!
- Q: What type of content is currently featured on the Defenders site?
-
A: Each week we release pages from our two latest projects. One project is a narrative comic, while the other is a set of pinups.
-
There are always at least two projects in production at all times. If you don’t like comic "A" starring Akane and Ranma-chan, then you might like Comic "B" starring Shampoo. It's our hope that a variety of projects ensures that there's always something interesting and sexy going on for everybody at our site.
-
In addition to producing new content, every few months we'll also be archiving "back issues" from our vast catalog of comics featured on Deep Star Books!
So to summarize, you'll get variety, quality, and quantity of content when you become an RHB Defender. ^_^
- Q: Why has the RHB changed its business model to a membership site?
-
A: The short answer is: we had no choice. The economy took a nasty nosedive in the Fall of 2008. Sales on Deep Star Books declined to the point where we could no longer sustain production. A tough choice needed to be made before it was too late.
We recognized that we still had a lot of fans, but some could no longer afford to buy our comics each month because money was so tight and people were out of work. So we decided to take a big chance and alter the way we release our comics.
By switching to a membership model we were able to fix costs, release Ranma hentai on a regular basis, and offer discounts to the loyal fans that “Buy every comic”.
And we're pleased to report: so far so good!
New Ranma art is being released each week. And we finally have our finances balanced to ensure we keep making the quality content you want to see for years to come. ^_^
- Q: How often will the Defenders site update?
-
A: The Defenders site will update every day, Monday through Saturday without fail.
We also have "special events" where we might update an extra page on Sunday as a bonus.
And if we can get enough members over time, we'll be looking to expand our update schedule even more!
- Q: Will RHB Defender comics still be released on Deep Star Books?
-
A: Deep Star Books remains open, but is inactive. No future content releases are planned.
- Q: What are the benefits of being an RHB Defender?
-
A: There are lots of benefits, for us and for you!
First and foremost, there is new Ranma hentai SIX DAYS A WEEK! No more waiting a month or two before seeing the next content update like on Deep Star Books! You now get to see each page as soon as it's completed.
Also we can finally offer a price cut to the true loyal fans out there that stick with us month after month. Longer subscription plans are discounted anywhere from 10 to 30 percent! You get to choose the subscription that best fits your budget.
Perhaps best of all, you get to make requests and commissions from our artists! We truly draw the art YOU want to see! How cool is that?
We've got a lot of great things planned, but we need your support! The more members we get, the more art we can make. So please join us and spread the word about Defenders!
- Q: Will all future comics be released on the Defenders site?
-
A: All future RHB Ranma comics will be released on the Defenders site.
- Q: Can I buy a membership to the Defenders program on Deep Star Books?
-
A: No. Membership to the Defenders site is sold strictly through Tickets Club.
The reason we chose to partner with a billing merchant is that some people were uncomfortable with us personally handling the transactions. Although Deep Star Books was Verisign safe and SSL secure, we respect that some of our fans prefer to use a third party to complete transactions so that their credit card information remains private.
Tickets Club is a respected billing service and, like PayPal, will keep your credit card information secure and confidential. They take a hefty 14.5 percent commission for their service, but we think they are well worth it.
For those fans that still request PayPal, my answer is, whenever they decide to allow sales of adult digital content. We’d use them if we could. For now, it is impossible and illegal to use their service. So please consider using Tickets Club.
- Q: Will Third Party Comics be released on Defenders like “Cowboy Bebop” and “Dragon Ball”?
-
A: The Defenders site is dedicated to Ranma and ONLY Ranma comics.
Third Party Books are released exclusively on Deep Star Books though. So fans interested in that work can get it there.
We prefer to keep the entire Defenders website 100 percent Ranma-centric.
- Q: What are the requirements to commission Ranma art from you guys?
-
A: The request we get the most often is this one: can I commission something from the RHB? We’ve always been too busy with our own projects to consider it, but finally, I can give you a different answer- YES!!!
One of the special rewards that members of the Defenders site get is the ability to commission art from us!
There are some conditions though. First, you MUST be a member of the Defenders program. Second, you must have been a member for at LEAST six months. This is to prevent abuse of the service. Commissions are intended only for fans that have supported the Defenders program for a long time and have shown a strong commitment to our community.Once a Defender becomes eligible for commissions they’ll be able to send us a request directly. Please note that if demand is very strong, we’ll have to create a “waiting list”. But even if it takes a few extra weeks, we will be working on commissions constantly and we will get to it. ^_^
We look forward to drawing your ideas!
- Q: What if I lose my comics I’ve downloaded from the Defenders site? Are they gone forever?
-
A: Comics are ALWAYS available for download on the Defenders site, 24/7.
For fans that have requested replacement comics in the past (due to hard drive crashes etc) know that it can take several days or a week before we verify your purchase on the DSB and replace your comic.
With the Defenders site the comics are always there - on demand!
- Q: Do you plan on expanding the number of updates per week again in the future?
-
A: That’s what we want of course! But before we can do that, we need people to sign up! So please spread the word about our site. The more members we can get, the more art we can afford to make each month.
- Q: How do I become a member of the Defenders program?
-
A: On the main page of the RHB you will find several sign-up links.
Or you can just CLICK HERE ^_^
- Q: What does the Defenders Program cost?
-
A: Subscription plan prices vary depending on the length. Here are the current prices below:
- 1 month: 24.95 USD
- 2 months: 22.95 USD per month
- 3 months: 19.95 USD per month
- 4 months: 17.95 USD per month
And if you want to avoid automatic renewals, there is also a one month "TRIAL" option if you are on the fence about a long term subscription. That way if you try out our service, and decide it's not for you, there's no hassle! Simply let your trial account expire by doing nothing at all. Frankly, we loathe websites that make it hard to cancel just so they can soak you extra money if you forget. We don't want to take your money through underhanded means, we want you to help support Ranma Hentai by choice.
As you can see, the longer your plan, the more you save! Defenders who select the four month plan save about 30 percent!
- Q: How do I cancel my membership if I change my mind?
-
A: Awwww, we hope you'll stay! But if you do want to cancel it's very easy. Just sign in to the Members Area at Ticket's Club, and you can set your option there, including cancelling. Their website is just below.
